I have three kids, and all three of my kids need to wear glasses. As my oldest daughter got older, she began bugging me about getting contact lenses. 3 Tips For Caring For Your Contact Lenses

If you have to rely on corrective vision wear to get through your day, you will want to take care of these. Studies indicate that 30 million Americans wear contact lenses daily to be able to see well. If this number includes you, it's important to take the proper care of your lenses. Doing so can help you avoid some medical problems that include eye infections. By knowing tips that can assist you in caring for your contact lenses, these can help you do so each day. 

Tip #1: Wear sunglasses

It's important to keep your eyes and contacts protected if you're out in the sun a great deal. The ultraviolet rays could begin to cause you problems if you don't.

Be sure to wear sunglasses on your daily commute to work and if you plan on being outdoors for an extended amount of time, as well. 

Tip #2: Wearing cosmetics

If you wear eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara when using contact lenses, you should do so with caution. It's ideal to only purchase cosmetics that are hypo-allergenic to decrease the possibility of getting an eye infection.

Other tips to consider when using cosmetics are listed below:

1.    Put your contacts in before putting on any eye makeup

2.    Consider using a cream eyeshadow rather than a powder.

3.    Replace your eye makeup, at least, every three months if possible. 

Tip #3:  Cleanliness

You will need to keep your contact lenses clean to avoid eye infections. Be sure to take these out every day and it's ideal to do so before you go to bed at night.

Listed below are additional tips for cleaning your contact lenses:

1.    Wash your hands with warm soap and water before touching your contacts.

2.    Rinse your contacts with a fresh contact solution that is made specifically for lenses.

3.    Keep the top of your solution bottle closed tightly to avoid any debris from getting inside of it.

4.    Don't forget to clean your contact lenses case and dry it thoroughly to prevent any water damage to your contacts.

Taking care of your contact lenses is time well spent. Doing so will keep your eyes and contacts in the best possible condition. Additionally, your contact lenses may last longer, as well.
